This is an introductory session where students are informed about the learning goals, outcomes, and expectations of this course. They familiarize themselves with the facilities of the educational institution (classroom, library, lounge, cafeteria) and the safety procedures for this building.

SESSION 2
Athenian topography
SESSION 2 INFO
In this session, students are introduced to the Athenian topography. They learn about the monuments and archaeological places from different historic periods (Prehistoric, Geometric, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Modern) that are still visible in the modern cityscape. They examine the value of history and the past in contemporary life. Why is Athens continuously inhabited from ancient times until today? Why is the past so important today? How is identity connected with the past?

SESSION 3
Research of monument
SESSION 3 INFO
case heritage studies course
Students select a monument from the Acropolis that they will investigate throughout the sessions of this course. They start exploring the monument of their choice using the resources of the library and a variety of material provided by the teacher. Students complete this session by writing a presentation of the chosen monument.
